Rules of Playing Craps
The game is played with two six-sided dices and the idea of the game is to predict the outcome of the roll. The players place their bets on various parts of the table and the game is played in rounds. Each part of the table signifies a different bet. You need to at least place a ‘pass’ or ‘don’t pass’ bet. The first time you start playing the game, your role is known as the ‘come out roll’.
- When the ‘come out roll’ is a 7 or 11, all the bets that are placed on the ‘pass line’ win and all the rest lose.
- When it is is 2, 3 or 12 then the bets placed on the ‘don’t pass line’ win and all the rest lose.
- When the shooter rolls a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 on the ‘come out roll’, in that case, the number that is rolled becomes the ‘point’. The game continues to roll until they get the point number or a 7.
- When the result of the roll is 7, then the ‘don`t pass line’ wins and the ‘pass line’ loses.
- When the result is the ‘point’ number, the ‘pass line’ wins and the ‘don’t pass line’ loses.
Different Types of Bets
When you play craps you can place different bets on the table including:
Place Bet – This is when you bet on rolling the number of your choice before the 7 is rolled.
Field Bet – This is when you bet on the outcome of the next roll. This bet is also known as a one-roll bet.
Pass Bet – This is one of the most popular bets in craps. The house edge of this bet is 1.41% and for that reason, it’s considered one of the best bets. When you choose ‘pass bet’ you place a bet on the shooter`s come out roll. You win the bet if the shooter rolls a 7 or 11. In case the round continues and the shooter rolls the point number before a 7, then the pass bet wins. If they roll a 7 first, then the pass bet loses.
Don’t pass bet – When you choose this bet, you are actually betting on the shooter losing. This bet is opposite of the pass bet. You will win if the shooter rolls a 2 or 3, and when he rolls 7 or 11 you will lose. In case the round continues, the shooter needs to roll a 7 before the point number in order for you to win.
Come Bet – This bet is almost the same as a pass bet, the only difference is you can place it while the game is in progress. This means you already know the point number. The bet wins when you roll 7 or 11 on the dice, but if you roll 2, 3 or 12, then the bet loses. When the game continues in order for you to win the bet, the shooter has to roll the come bet point number before 7.
Don’t Come Bet – This bet can also be made while the game is in progress and it`s the exact opposite of the come out bet. You win when the shooter rolls a 2 or a 3, and you lose when the shooter rolls a 7 or an 11. You will also win if the shooter rolls a 7 before it rolls the point number.
Craps Online Strategy
Since Craps is a game of chance, there isn’t much you can do when it comes to predicting the outcome of the game. Still, there are things that you can employ to improve your chances of winning. The simplest and most effective strategy is to always choose bets that offer a low house edge.
For instance, if you always choose to bet on don’t pass, the house edge is 1.41%. but if you choose to, let`s say, push your chips to big 6 the house edge will be 9.09%. The ideal scenario would be to always choose bets with low house edge and higher payouts. In the end, it’s your up to you how you want to play craps. If you believe that you are on a lucky streak then we say go for it and try your luck.
